Types and Styles of Yoga
- Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga) - Bikram or what is commonly known in the west as Hot yoga it is named after its founder Bikram Choudhury. It is practiced by cranking up the heat in the room. This has the benefits of helping to detoxify the body through sweating as well as making you more flexible and less prone to injury.
- Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - The Ashtanga Vinyasa style focuses on the flow created between different yoga poses. It is often practiced intensely with a focus on breathing. It creates intense sweating to help release toxins.
- Iyengar Yoga - B.K.S. Iyengar crated this form of yoga that bears his namesake. It is a variant and derives from the Hatha branch of yoga. It has a deep focus on detailed body alignment and strength conditioning.
- Jivamukti Yoga - This is a recent style of yoga created in new York its merges a few different styles and focuses on yoga practices for the everyday life.
- Kundalini Yoga - This style of yoga focuses on the spine. It focuses on strengthening the spine and transfering energy up and down the spine.
